· A 76 year old man died 75 days after the implant of a Carmat artificial heart, the first one in France. This was intended to allow him to live for 5 years, but he died after only 75 days. This model of the artificial heart by Carmat did not work as well as intended, meaning that changes need to be made if this company wants to stay in business. As of right now Syncardia is the prime company for artificial hearts, and this man might’ve been able to live longer if Carmat was able to make a better version.
